How Do You See Your Breath?

Remember the last time you tried holding your breath for more than a minute?
No matter how you tried, you just couldn’t seem to hold it for longer than you really wanted to. I’ve tried it too and I cannot hold my breath for more than a few seconds or more.
Studies have shown that the human body can survive up to 60 days or more without food and up to 3 days or more without water. In February 2012, a Swedish man was found in a car which had been buried under snow. The man stated that he had survived for two months without food just by eating handfuls of snow.

Although, the human body can survive up to 60 days without food, it cannot survive more than 3 to 5 minutes without breathing or without air. The importance of air and breath to life cannot be underestimated. Breath is life. Breath is vitality. Breath is energy – the life giving force that makes every human being live. Just because we don’t see air or breath, we seem not to value its worth and substance. Isn’t it so paradoxical that the things which seem so unimportant in life can be the most significant to our living and existence? Just imagine, a split second of unwelcome breathlessness!

This leads me to the quote I want to share with you today:

"In every breath is a new opportunity" - Kalani Miller

Let me ask you a simple question.
How do you see your breath?

My Own Equation

I have come to equate my breathing to moments – moments in time and moments in life.  I would add that in every moment is a new opportunity. Likewise, an opportunity can be a moment that presents itself when you are not even thinking about it. We don’t think about our breathing that much, do we?

How can every breath present with it an opportunity?
Opportunities abound every moment. The opportunity to say a kind word rather than a harsh one. The opportunity to say hello as you pass by a stranger. The opportunity to smile rather than frown, The opportunity to sway to a good piece of jazz, blues or pop music or whatever tune takes your fancy.  Above all, the opportunity to take life a little lighter - laughing at yourself when you do something absolutely absurd!
In every breath is certainly a new opportunity. Do you agree? Would love to hear your thoughts in the comment box below.

Attention! Take a deep breath. Say a kind word to somebody today and make them smile...
